Thereupon after receiving the advice of the Executive Council, and giving full weight to Your Honour's recommendation that in the event of their failing to exculpate themselves the officers in question might be leniently dealt with, I ordered that they be subjected to a reduction of their salaries by one-sixth in each case, and that they be reprimanded and cautioned that any further misconduct on their part will lead to their dismissal.
The Treasurer will accordingly be instructed to pay the salaries at the reduced rate commencing with those for the current month, and I shall be obliged if Your Honour will be so good as to carry the remainder of the order into effect.
